I’m changing with the seasons. Perhaps that’s the fate of the Pluto in Scorpio generation, a lifetime of molting. Scorpions go into hiding when they outgrow their exoskeletons. They need the protection of solitude to shed their outer layer. Molting is a stressful and energetically demanding process. The old exoskeleton is released, and a new, softer one is exposed. I’ve outgrown many exoskeletons, and last year’s eclipses initiated another molt.
Sometimes, I criticize myself for the pivots I’ve made in life. I can’t seem to stick to a singular path. My Gemini Moon craves variety, and my life path is like a tree with branches growing in all directions. At one point, I wanted to run for office. Then, I wanted to be a full-time astrologer, and today, I dream of farming. My experiences affirm life is a labyrinth, and I’m learning to surrender. Although my paths appear disjointed, they weave the fabric of my life.
Political organizing and astrology shaped me. Abolition and socialism shattered my worldview. These ideologies facilitated the purging of internalized systems of oppression and helped me see beyond my narrow scope of privilege. Astrology brought me into relationship with the stars and rekindled my childlike awe and wonder. I learned an ancient language, and it attuned me to Earth and starry sky.
I received more clarity after this latest molt. I’m meant to commune with plants, soil, and stars. I’m here to revolt against extractive systems and to be in loving reciprocity with the Earth. I’m meant to heal and nourish with food and herbs. I’m here to practice caring and nurturing ways of being.
Today, a new path emerges that weaves the threads of my past. I’m beginning my astro-herbal studies through the teachings of Sarah Corbett of Rowan + Sage and Kyle Denton of Tippecanoe Herbs. My fiance and I listen to audiobooks and podcasts about organic and small-scale farming. In the coming years, we hope to buy our first home on a couple of acres to grow herbs, flowers, and vegetables.
Facing the compounding crises of ecological and empire collapse is terrifying. I feel compelled to learn how to feed and heal people with plants. My anxiety about the future is at its worst. Following the call of the plant path soothes my nervous system. When catastrophizing thoughts flood my mind, plants teach me to root and adapt.
Pisces season is an opportunity to reflect on the past year. In tropical astrology, the year begins on the spring equinox, and Pisces marks the end of a cycle. Following the Sun on their annual journey through the zodiac connects me with the subtle shifts of the seasons. If you want to follow along, I have two offerings for you.
My friend Eliot Marzano and I completed our A Year with the Zodiac workshop series. From March 2023 - March 2024, we co-taught 12 lectures delving into the Greek mythology and archetypes of the zodiac, including interpretations of the planets in each sign and natal chart examples. Each lecture is 90 - 120 minutes, and they are now available. A Year with the Zodiac is for astrology beginners and enthusiasts who want to go beyond pop astrology stereotypes and gain a deeper understanding of the zodiac. Begin your journey today.
The second opportunity is from the Astrologers Co-Op. Professional astrologers across the globe are banding together to build solidarity and collective power.
is our inaugural project featuring writing and content by 50 professional astrologers, including me! Follow along on Instagram, Twitter, and Substack to support this exciting endeavor! And did I mention it’s FREE?! Every ten days, a different astrologer will teach you about 1 of 36 segments of the zodiac known as the decans. Plus, you will receive bonus content about important astrological transits throughout the year. I wrote a piece for Aries I, and you don’t want to miss it!Finally, my March and April books are open for astrology readings. My offerings include Constellation of the Soul and Cycles & Seasons.
Constellation of the Soul is for those who want a better understanding of their natal chart. The natal chart is a seed unfurling throughout life. The unique constellation of planets, zodiac signs, and houses gives us a glimpse into our soul's fate and fortune.
Cycles & Seasons is for those who want to journey into the spiral. As the seed of the natal chart unfurls, techniques like annual profections, progressions, and transits uncover the emergent patterns of specific points in time. Think of this as a year-ahead reading, but you pick any 12 months - past, present, or future. Book an in-person or virtual consultation today.
I love the journey of the scorpion 🥹 I totally agree, us Gemini's are meant to bounce around as we please which can be frustrating at times but I've truly loved learning so much in my life. I can't wait to read your piece on Aries I!
