Launching my professional practice
I am overjoyed to launch my professional practice, Mystical Magnolia Astrology!
One year ago, I was struggling. Still living in Chicago, I was exhausted and burnt out. For four years I poured all my energy into community organizing. Awakening to the systemic inequality, oppression, and suffering in the world felt crushing. Community organizing was the outlet I needed to learn, understand, and build with others who dreamt of a better world. In late 2021 I sensed I was burning myself out. I had huge visions for my role in the movement and poured my energy into leading campaigns and organizations. It was fulfilling, but the pace at which I was organizing was unsustainable and emotionally taxing.
Although the organizations I was affiliated with are considered radical, it didn’t exempt them from perpetuating the harms of patriarchy, white supremacy, and capitalism. Seeing my friends harmed by others in the community helped me realize we all have a duty to do the inner work of confronting our internalized racism, misogyny, and ableism while healing from our past traumas. I believe astrology is one of many tools available to shift our perspective, bring awareness to the cycles of our inner and outer worlds, and support our collective healing.
While taking a break from organizing to focus on my healing, my relationship with astrology blossomed. Awakening to the interconnectedness of humans, the cosmos, and natural world filled me with wonder. Studying astrology and integrating my intellectual knowledge with an embodied practice has transformed my life. I finally know myself and have grace for the parts of my being who experience pain, grief, and heartbreak.
Devoting myself to astrological study and praxis has expanded my horizons. Astrology gives me the tools to approach the roses and thorns of life with compassion and forgiveness. This ancient art form holds infinite potential to support our healing, growth, and transformation.
