How to write with so much suffering and violence in the world? One of the infinite cruelties of capitalism is the expectation to keep working during tragedy. No time to pause, listen, help, or grieve. I don’t want to live in a world that ignores and normalizes mass suffering. I want to live in a world steeped in empathy and compassion. I want to live in a world overflowing with mutual aid and solidarity. I want to live in a world free of genocide and violence where every human life is valued. I want to live in a world full of love.
It doesn’t feel right to carry on writing about the astrology of the moment. I struggled with the thought of writing anything at all. My voice does not need to be centered, and I don’t have a large platform. However, I will not stay silent on injustices. 2020 taught me silence is an act of complicity. So, I educate myself, I read, I listen, and I take action.
I am no expert on Israel or Palestine. All I know is I believe in the liberation of all people. I’m willing to do the uncomfortable work of learning, unlearning, speaking up, and taking action to get us closer to the day where everyone is free.
So, today I am in your inbox to share resources, writings, and ways to take action. If you have more to share, please add them in the comments.
