Community. Music. Poems. Tonight, I lived the Gemini New Moon thanks to a Milwaukee poet who goes by Beedle the Poet. They cultivated the most magical project I’ve ever been a part of called Spray Painted Poems. I shared a bit about this project several weeks ago when the spray painting took place. Tonight, we celebrated the culmination of the project at Woodland Pattern a local bookstore and community hub for poets, writers, and artists. The night included a screening of the documentary film capturing the project, live music, and poets reading for a live audience. For the first time ever I shared my poem, a series of affirmations, in front of a live audience.
I am human.
I deserve nourishment.
My body is beautiful.
Three hours before the New Moon perfects at 11:37 PM CDT tonight, I experienced this surreal literal manifestation of the Sun, Moon, and Mercury joining in Gemini. Gemini, the mutable air sign of the zodiac, is represented by the twins and ruled by Mercury. Gemini is curious, a jack-of-all-trades, and a savvy communicator easily striking up conversation with anyone.
Tonight’s New Moon in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces fogging up Gemini’s quick wit with a mystical, ethereal fog. Tonight is all about dreaming collectively. Gathering with community and speaking dreams for the future into the universe. Let our imaginations be as expansive as the ocean. Let our hopes for the future be utopian daydreams. Let Neptune in Pisces obliterate all limiting beliefs. Tonight, create, connect, dream, and vision without borders.
Enjoy this Gemini New Moon, friends, and remember the power of our intentions are amplified when seeded collectively. If you feel called, drop a comment or reply to this email with your New Moon intentions.
Present Practices
Today with Jupiter meandering through the lush meadows of Taurus, my partner and I drove to New Freedom, Wisconsin for the Four Elements Open Farm Day. Four Elements is an organic farm and apothecary crafting the most delicious tea blends I’ve ever tasted. In their apothecary, they concoct creams, soaps, and tinctures from nourishing, healing plants. Today we visited their farm and met the farmers and their plant companions. It was another magical experience, and I don’t think I’ll ever forget this day. Two life affirming experiences back to back.
Last year, in the throes of my Saturn Return, I kept asking the universe to show me how good life could get, and now I’m living my dreams and doing my best to savor every moment. My partner and I have known for a while now we want to grow food and herbs. Our Taurus and Virgo Suns crave nourishment. Visiting Four Elements strengthened that craving. We came home with a bounty of medicinal plants including calendula, lavender, rosemary, and holy basil. We potted them adding to our growing backyard garden. Today we saw a glimpse of our future. A future filled with love, community, and reciprocity with the land. Last year as I struggled through grief, loneliness, and isolation in our tiny one bedroom Chicago apartment, I dreamt of growing our very own garden. Now my present practice is a manifestation of that dream. I am fully present when Will and I are tending to our garden. Potting new friends, weeding, and watering. Our garden is my happy place, and it always grounds me in the present. I am grateful for the abundance blossoming within and around me.
Multi-Passions…all the things bringing me expansion, insight, and joy!
As Gemini season comes to an end, I’m once again sharing the Gemini season workshop I co-created with my friend Eliot Marzano Astrology. Each month we’re teaching the mythology, archetypes, and chart examples of the twelve Zodiac signs Aries through Pisces. We dropped our Gemini workshop a couple weeks ago, and here’s the link! If you would like to keep learning, the workshops are $25 and Cancer season is next! Grab your spot.
Last year I read Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. This year, I’m listening to the audiobook narrated by Robin herself. Her Indigenous wisdom feels even more expansive the second time around especially with Jupiter meandering through Taurus.
Finally, in another astrology is so real moment, today I set my intentions for the Artist’s Way book club hosted by Marlee Grace of the Monday Monday Substack and Common Shapes podcast. For the next 12 weeks, I’ll be reading Julia Cameron’s insights and completing the weekly exercises including daily morning pages and a weekly artist date. This week’s date was attending the Spray Painted Poems project launch! I’m sharing my intentions for the next 12 weeks as they are doubling as my Gemini New Moon intentions: My first intention is to approach this book study with an open heart and mind. My second intention is to have grace for myself when self-doubts come up and to do my best to feel through and release them. My third intention is to choose myself and my creative practices every day and to fully accept myself as an artist by the end of the 12 weeks.
Ooo my intention under this Gemini Moon is to vocalise my dreams to other people, to make them public/verbal and not just internal ❤️
