Oh, I’m so close to leaving - but I keep convincing myself it’s important to my business. It also provides a small amount of connection, which I am so desperate for. I think that is my downfall, even now on Substack - I create, and create in the hope that someone will connect and reaffirm that I am alive and needed in this world. But there’s so much noise, and I am lost.
I have a ‘no spend 2025) rule, but have been hanging my nose over a tarot deck. Your line “… pulling tarot cards to build connection and trust in my intuition.” really hit me. Trust in my intuition - that’s deep. I want some. Perhaps someone will gift me some.
Loved this post. Well done on you accomplishments 🙏🏼
thank you so much for reading and sharing your reflections. you are not alone in your fears of disconnection! social media has become such a way of life and when I first left the apps I did struggle with a feeling of disconnection. however, like I wrote about, that subsided over time and I found other ways to feel connected. tarot is such a beautiful practice and I've had several decks come into my life as gifts from friends. I've also passed along decks I no longer connected with. I also love the barter economy and maybe there's something you can trade to receive a deck. you'll know when the right one crosses your path!
Great post. Tomorrow I will on the road all day and will have plenty of podcasts episodes + Jenny Odell’s book to listen 😅
I want to spend less time on apps like IG but as someone said above this app gives me regularly good projects so I can’t just leave, or feel like it. But maybe I can just use it on my computer or iPad. And regarding to the news, this is really hard these days, every day is a new shitstorm and I find it difficult to deal with. I would prefer not stay informed 😅
Well well… Thanks again, can’t wait to listencto all these ressources tomorrow :)
Your journey was so beautiful to read 🥹 I can't thank you enough for the resources and all of your inspiration. I've been doing a lot of reflection on this recently and it helps immensely
Thank you for sharing your journey! I fully endorse life without social media, and think it's important for all of us to hear stories about how rich, meaningful, and joyful that life can be. The additional point I'll make is that following one or two favorite news outlets has the potential to lead to as much polarization as our social media bubbles do, so I encourage the use of tools like AllSides and Ground News to seek out unbiased news summaries and get a feel for the blind spots on all sides. I hope to write about this on my Substack soon!
These are great additional resources and insights, Diana! You are someone that regularly helps me think about things from different angles and perspectives. I will check out the tools you shared. :)
